Elizabeth S. Mayers, LCSW-BACS, BCD

Adult & Couples Psychotherapist

With over 20 years of clinical experience, Ms. Mayers is knowledgeable in a wide variety of settings including mental health clinics, adoption agencies and hospitals. Prior to opening Mayers Mental Health in August of 2014, Ms. Mayers served as the Clinical Director as well as an adult and couples therapist for a practice located in Lafayette, LA. Ms. Mayers specializes in adult individual therapy, couples, family, and group therapy.  Her vast clinical experiences and areas of interest include women’s issues (including postpartum depression and fertility struggles), mood disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, PTSD, people living with HIV/AIDS, adoption related stressors, relationship issues, LGBTQ population, and challenges associated with life transitions.

A native of Washington, D.C., Ms. Mayers attended the National Catholic School of Social Services where she earned her Master’s in Social Work. She continued her education and earned a Board Certification in Social Work and Psychotherapy in 2006. Most recently, Ms. Mayers completed her licensure as a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. Elizabeth is a proud resident of Lafayette, LA, where she has resided with her family since 2008.

Elizabeth accepts most Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance plans as well as private pay.

Scott D. Mayers, MD

Psychiatrist

Born and raised in Lafayette, LA, Dr. Mayers returned to Lafayette in 2008. He is board certified by both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He attended Rice University where he obtained a B.A. in Sociology, followed by LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans where he became a Doctor of Medicine. He then competed his psychiatric residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Upon returning to Lafayette, Dr. Mayers served the veteran population for five and a half years doing outpatient psychiatry at the local V.A. Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Dr. Mayers left the V.A. in February, 2014 to form Mayers Mental Health, LLC with his wife, Elizabeth, and to pursue a number of opportunities in the private sector. Dr. Mayers currently works at multiple psychiatric inpatient and intensive outpatient programs along with several residential substance-abuse programs.
